My stay at Gahiza was the best highlight of my trip to Kisoro, David treated us well, great food we ate. The views of the lake and the mountains are thrilling, the birds on the Island kept singing throughout the night. The stars at night were beautiful, our dinner and breakfast was the best.

Had a fantastic stay here. The lake is beautiful and getting to stay on a private island in the middle of it was amazing. The food was good and the host was so welcoming and helpful, there is an amazing view from the room and you can even go swimming in the lake!

We had an amazing experience at Gahiza Island retreat in February 2023.
David Bakaine the owner of Gahiza Island Retreat and his team were very welcoming and full of interesting stories about the island.
The food is great and the island is a hidden gem on lake mutanda. I highly recommend it especially for honeymooners who want to just enjoy the serenity and tranquility of the island.

If you need a place to emotionally, mentally, physically reconnect to yourself and God then just head there. The view from my room, birds if you’re a birder, nature lovers don’t skip.

A fantastic paradise in the heart of Lake Mutanda. Great staff, tasty meals and loving host. The view to the virungas and sunset is spectacular. Please endeavor to visit the caves. A lot to learn and the discoveries are still intact. A lovely Island retreat for a great vacation with David, the host!

I went several times to this little paradise where the nature takes over the busy life! Moreover the host is very welcoming and supportive! We especially enjoyed the discussion at the end of the day around a bone fire!

Un séjour incroyable chez David au milieu du lac Mutanda, dans une atmosphère on ne peut plus relaxante. Les chambres sont basiques mais très confortables, et la vue depuis le lit sur les montagnes du lac est juste exceptionnelle 😍 David propose plusieurs activités différentes dont celles de faire le tour du lac en bateau et de prendre de l’altitude sur l’île face à la sienne. Dépaysement garanti dans cet endroit aux airs de bout du monde!
